Gerard McMahon


Gerard (Gerry) McMahon has spent over 30 years living and working in Hong Kong. He is qualified as a Barrister in both Hong Kong and Australia (New South Wales).

He is currently Chairman of ASX listed companies including Oriental Technologies Investment and Tanami Gold.

Gerry was previously the head of the Hong Kong Government’s Commercial Law Practice and subsequently was a member of both the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and Takeover and Mergers Panel.

Upon leaving his Hong Kong Government roles, Gerry has been a director of a number of Hong Kong, Indonesian and Australian listed companies as well as a founding partner of Hong Kong listed Asian Capital, a corporate finance advisory firm.

Gerry brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and contacts to the 153 East team.

James Walker


James has 20 years experience working across investment banking and private equity, and as an entrepreneur in co-founding a number of businesses.

Previously James was Head of the Private Capital Group at ANZ Bank in Australia and an equity partner in the private equity group Blue Sky Capital in the US.

Sectors of focus include real estate and agriculture, as well as leveraged and mezzanine debt solutions. James has also led corporate advisory mandates and capital raises across other sectors such as infrastructure and mining services.

James has acted for both corporate clients as well as a wide variety of investors, including hedge funds, private equity groups, pension funds and family offices.

James was educated at Oxford University and has subsequently completed training programmes at a variety of international business schools during his career.

Tim Breen


Tim has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry encompassing banking, stockbroking, funds management and private equity.

Tim was the Executive Director of Education Holdings, a Hong Kong private equity backed company established to develop Australian curriculum schools in China.

Previously, Tim was co-founder and managing director of Woodlawn Capital an Australian based alternate investment fund manager with offshore institutional clients.

Tim started his career in stockbroking with Patersons Securities, Tolhurst and then Tricom Equities, where he gained many years of experience working with and completing capital raisings for a wide range of public companies.

Tim completed his undergraduate degree in Applied Finance and subsequently became a graduate of the Australian Institute of Directors, a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and a member of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum.

Steve Bellotti

Advisory Board Member

Steve Bellotti has over 35 years experience in investment banking and financial markets in leadership roles across London, New York and Sydney.

He has 22 years experience at MD level with JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and most recently at ANZ Bank where he headed up Global Markets & Loans, managing over A$300bn in assets.

Steve has led teams across debt and equity capital markets, fixed income, foreign exchange, cash equities and derivatives, and has a reputation for building high-performing, motivated teams that deliver strong results.

Steve also has a deep knowledge of private equity and real estate investing, as both a principal investor and an investment manager.

He now heads up his own alternative investment group.

Steve also brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and contacts to the 153 East team.
